What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Follow your passion.

I was living in England for some time after Uni. in the beginning as a lodger at a very kind lady’s house. We used to sip on a cup of tea in the garden and chat about all kinds of things as we were getting to know each other. She was an exceptionally kind person.

She became a widow a couple of years earlier very suddenly. After the funeral a good friend of hers stayed to help putting the place in order and said: you must continue living under these circumstances but promise me you will do what you want from now on.

The lady always had a passion for shiatsu massage but never quite came around starting a business beside her day job. soon she started first going around friends’ houses helping them with aches and pains, then left her day job and did exactly what her friend advised her to do. Live for her passion.

So as I was struggling to find a job in a totally new environment, she said: if you follow your passion, the Universe will be on your side. Live from the heart and everything else will follow.

And she was right. I found the office I was looking for within a week. Those years were my best years in my profession.

I never forgot her words, still following her best advice ever since with tremendous gratitude.
